Our Story

As 2015 Georgetown University graduates, Natango and Hillary often wonder if their paths ever crossed before their official meeting. Could it have occurred during the countless hours they spent studying at Lau library? Perhaps. Maybe if they had taken an occasional study break and grabbed a beer at Tombs their relationship might have started sooner.
However, their story finally began three years after graduation when their mutual friend, Anna-Sophia, invited both of them to her birthday party in New York. It was at this party that Hillary first caught Natango’s eye, and he knew instantly that he must meet her. After some initial small talk, he challenged her with, “Ask me anything.” So, Hillary posed a very important question, “Would you rather fight a saltwater alligator or a great white shark?” It was at that moment Natango thought he may have found “The One”. They danced all night and exchanged numbers.

Living on opposite coasts, they began to text back and forth, building their relationship on witty comments and humorous banter. After a couple of months Natango wanted to see Hillary again in person. Playing it cool, he came to California under the guise of “visiting a friend”. The weekend was magical and the sparks flew! Thus began the budget airline flights every two weeks between Florida and Los Angeles, usually on a Spirit red-eye. The commitment was strong!

After a year, when they could no longer stand the airport goodbyes, Natango made the big move to Los Angeles and the California chapter began. Over quarantine their love for each other grew. Sharing a deep commitment to family, a love for travel and a mutual sense of adventure, it ultimately became clear that they both wanted their future to be with each other.

Last December, on a trip to visit his family for Christmas, Natango planned a two-day stopover in Washington, DC. At Georgetown’s Dahlgren chapel, the same chapel where Natango’s parents had been married, he got down on one knee and ask Hillary to be his wife. She cried and said, “Yes!”  Happy tears flowed along with the champagne as they facetimed their families to announce the news. They are excited about the future and look forward to celebrating with friends and family on their wedding day!

Our Songs

Shoutout to Susannah Howard for introducing Vance Joy to their love story which ended his writer’s block and inspired him to write this classic: Saturday Sun
While listening to Saturday Sun, Taylor Swift was so moved by their love and  Hillary’s childhood dream of dating a British boy she wrote this song: London Boy
